Product Key Explorer is a serial key retriever for Windows. It works in two different modes. First, it can retrieve the serial keys stored in the registry locally or it can connect to other computers on your home network and retrieve them that way.
Product Key Explorer reads the registry and finds the applications that you have installed and then it retrieves their serial keys. It shows that information after a scan has been completed. For the network scans, it will also show the IP address of the computers that were scanned. Also, you can set the scan to look at a specific IP address, an IP range, or even a text file with a list of IP addresses, which is very helpful.
In both modes, after a successful scan, you can save all the results to a backup file or use the file menu to copy individual keys to the clipboard and then paste them somewhere else. It also allows you to specify login credentials to be used on other computers over the network. The reason for this is that most systems won't divulge information to anyone asking.
All in all, Product Key Explorer does its job pretty well. It is a very basic application that is light-weight and responsive. I'm not sure about the price tag though.
- It saves time.
- It supports network scans
- I can't justify the price
